Grand Premiere Of Bandh Mukt

Each one of us hopes to have a beautiful beginning and end to our life. Being afflicted with an incurable disease, instead of waiting helplessly for death, some feel that as a last resort, VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA is an option closer to their heart. Many organizations are fighting a legal battle for the individual’s right to voluntary euthanasia. Commenting on this serious topic, a brand new play Band- Mukt, has come into discussion among theatre goers. Produced by  `Jagadamb Creations’,  a `Tirkitdha’ presentation, Band-Mukt is written by Vivek Apte and directed by Dr. Anil Bandivadekar. Along with acting, Dr. Amol Kolhe, has also collaborated in the production of the play.

A grand premiere of Band-Mukt, was recently held at Ravindra Natya Mandir. Mrs. Rashmi Thackeray, Anil Desai MP, Sanjay Kelkar MLA, Adv. Ujwal Nikam, Kiran Shantaram, Bharat Jadhav, Vijay Kenkre, Bharat Dabholkar, Madhura Velankar, Priya Marathe, Samidha Guru, producer Prasad Kambli, and Harshad Tondwalkar, along with many celebrities from, the film and Drama fraternity, medical, political, literature, industry and social fields, were present. The main attraction of this play is that at every performance, opinion of the audience will be taken to decide the second half of the play. For this, the second half will have two independent parts. According to the audience’s opinion, the most preferred alternative will be staged. This is the first time in Marathi theatre that the second half will unfold, taking into consideration the opinion of theatre goers.

Band-Mukt  although the name itself indicates that the play is going to be different, the presentation is exemplary. An ideological discussion, amongst a surgeon, his wife, holding a doctorate in criminal psychology, an advocate and a human rights activist, is the play Band- Mukt. As we watch the play, we come to know who gets squeezed in the Band, and who is successful in unshackling the bond and become Mukt. In Band Mukt, we will get to see the powerful performances of Dr. Amol Kolhe, Ketaki Thatte, Rajan Shankar Bane,, Shantanu Moghe, Vivek Apte, Pandhari Mendhge and Latika Sawant.

Band-Mukt, produced by Dr. Amol Kolhe, Vilas Sawant, and Sonali Ghanshyam Rao, is co-produced by Dr. Ajit Deval. Background music of this Vivek Apte written play, is given by Rahul Ranade. Lighting is by Sheetal Talpade and backstage is taken care of by Rajan Bhise. This play, based on a totally different story, will definitely win the discerning theatre lovers’ approval.
